Messiah in Cape Town, 25/3 - 1/4/2024

Every year at Easter, the Philharmonia Choir Cape Town performs the Messiah on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We have the opportunity to join in, performing at the foot of Table Mountain and inside the beautiful concert hall! In addition to rehearsal work and music-making, a varied and exciting program awaits us. We explore Cape Town with its cultural and scenic diversity, see the gardens of Kirstenbosch, visit the most beautiful wineries, drive through impressive landscapes to the Cape of Good Hope, walk in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela and even go on a safari in Aquila Wildlife Park, where elephants, lions, buffaloes, etc. can be experienced in the wild.   

There are seats for 30 singers for the Messiah concert: 10 soprano, 10 alto and 10 tenor/bass. There is no limit for non-singing accompaniment. More details about the Messiah performance will be announced later.

You have to book the flights yourself and offers can be found here: www.expedia.com. Usually overnight flights are offered, arriving in the morning in Cape Town. Please book the flights in such a way that you arrive in Cape Town on 25/3/2024 and depart again on 1/4/2024. Please also consider the opportunity to extend your trip to South Africa. We are accommodated in a 4* hotel on the waterfront, with a view of Table Mountain. The Waterfront is a very popular and safe area in the old harbour area with many restaurants, shops and entertainment for you to enjoy.

During the tour we will use a bus to go to the rehearsals, concerts and the attractions.

The schedule is as follows:

Sun, 24.03.24: Flight to Cape Town

Mon, 25.03.24: Arrival in the morning, transfer to the hotel. Leisure time. Messiah rehearsal in the evening.

Tue, 26.03.24: Cape Town City Walking Tour and Bus City Tour. Table Mountain & Signal Hill Sun Downer.

Wed, 27.03.24: Kirstenbosch & Hout Bay Tour. In the evening: Messiah rehearsal.

Thu, 28.03.24: Wine tastings in Groot Constantia, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

Fri, 29.03.24: Day trip to the Cape of Good Hope and the Cape Penguins. In the evening: Messiah concert.

Sat, 30.03.24: Day trip to the Aquila safari with elephants, lions, buffaloes and rhinos. Dinner with PCCT

Sun, 31.03.24: Free day. One suggestion would be Robben Island. In the evening: Messiah concert.

Mon, 01.04.24: Free morning and afternoon, depending on the flight. Transfer to the airport and return flight.

Tue, 02.04.24: Return home

Note: Table Mountain is occasionally not accessible by cable car due to clouds and strong winds. Therefore, this item on the agenda may be moved. Furthermore, time is provided for individual program. Recommendable is a visit to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, the fascinating 2 Oceans Aquarium or a catamaran sailing trip. For the more adventurous, there is paragliding, helicopter rides or a visit to a town-ship. There is a lot to experience.

Booking

Room choice:
When booking, choose either a place in a triple, twin, double or single room.

If you are booking for yourself and fellow travelers you know, please indicate the corresponding number of places in a room.

Sharing a room with another guest:
If you would like to share a triple or twin room with another guest who you don't know, please book your space. If there is another guest to share a room, you will be informed accordingly. If this is not the case, the room will be converted to a single room and the relevant surcharge will apply. Rooms shared with an allocated guest will be divided by gender. The booking will be finalized no later than 2 months before the trip and the difference will be invoiced.

Payments:
There is a 20% deposit. The remaining payment is due 2 months before arrival.

Cancellations Terms

Cancellation by the customer

The customer can cancel the trip. This is done in writing. There is a cancellation fee of the purchase price of:

0% up to 12 weeks before
20% up to 6 weeks before
50% up to 4 weeks before
100% less than 4 weeks.

We recommend travel cancellation insurance.

Travel cancellation by the tour operator

If unforeseen compelling reasons such as war, natural disasters, epidemics or similar endanger the safety of the travelers or make the trip impossible, the tour operator can cancel and refund the payments.
